Cristina Gamón, Mise en abyme

The expression mise en abyme is a rhetorical figure consisting of overlapping a narrative within another of the same or similar theme. The strength of this resource has caused it to be transferred from literature to the visual and performing arts as a whole. Painted or written history, both are framed in myth, representation and the painting as a window. It is the image as the screen, the frame as the stage. In short, a symbolic space, a perspective, in this case, abysmal.
