Marta Chirino, Florilegium
Sometimes it is quite complex to write and this is one of those cases. To describe what Marta Chirino manages to share with us through her works becomes arduous and delicate. As, while maintaining a clear superficial disquisition between scientific illustration and botanical drawing, she presents a profound reflection to what the simple complexity of nature is concerned.
Marta Chirino is a biologist but also a great artist. She has achieved a perfect symbiosis between both worlds. And, in fact, she dedicates her time to both with great virtuosity. With a scientific thoroughness she portrays flowers, plants, fruits, even seeds. While with excellent artistic skills she dissects each piece wrapping them with an almost mystical aura. Almost imperceptibly the pen becomes the baton directing with firm strokes a rhythmic interpretation of the piece, tuning each instrument -technically or artistically – focusing on achieving the perfect tempo that will dictate dynamic accents to determine any relevant instruction of that particular musical sheet.
